Oops!

I forgot to pay my gas bill.  How do I know that?  Cause I received a disconnect notice in the mail today.  I was certainly confused.  I always pay the bills the first of the month whether they are due or not.  Brian only gets paid on the first so to avoid running out of money before the bills are due, I just pay them when his money is deposited.  You can understand why I was puzzled.  I even remember writing the transaction in my register.  Before calling the gas company I check my bank account.  I always use online bill pay so it was easy to check my last payment - November 4.  Wait, what about December.  I check my register, sure enough it's written in with the exact amount that my delinquent bill shows is late.  I reconcile my account and discover I had budgeted the gas bill into my account but never actually told the bank to pay it.  SHOOT!  I call the gas company, pay the bill, explain the situation.  No worries, simple mistake.  As I get off the phone, the representative informs me I now have a $262.95 credit on my account.  My bill was only $68.  So you're telling me you owe me money and yet your turning my gas off for not paying last month.  Make sense???  I didn't think so either.  Oh, well.

  1. I totally know what you mean. That happened to us. We had a over paid balance so I thought they would just use what was over paid...nope, got the pink slip in the mail. punks.

  2. Arrrrg! I hate when that happens. I pay my bills with online banking too and one time I accidentally sent payment to the wrong company and I didn't even have a balance for it! Frustrating! Fortunately the company that I owed waved the late fee as they could see that I paid on time every month since we've had an account with them.

  3. Nice. That is always a bummer when they treat their customers like that. :(
